Hello
We at Eastside Church of Christ seek to be members of the church that Jesus built (Matthew 16:18) and to follow the pattern of teaching found in the New Testament (2 Timothy 1:13). We strive to speak where the Bible speaks (1 Peter 4:11) and to remain silent where the Bible is silent (1 Corinthians 4:6). Our Lord Jesus established His church in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2). He is the head of the church (Ephesians 1:22–23), while each local congregation is overseen by qualified elders (1 Timothy 3:1–7) and served by qualified deacons (1 Timothy 3:8–13).
The Bible is our sole authority for faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:16–17), and we therefore do not follow human creeds or teachings that go beyond the Word of God (Matthew 15:9).
In worship, the Lord’s church sings hymns, prays to the Father, listens to the preaching of God’s Word, partakes of the Lord’s Supper, and gives to the Lord (1 Corinthians 14:15; Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:2).
God adds to His church those who are saved (Acts 2:47). In obedience to the Gospel, a person hears the Word of God (Acts 11:14), believes in Jesus Christ (Acts 16:31), repents of sins (2 Corinthians 7:10), confesses Jesus as the Son of God (Romans 10:10), and is baptised for the forgiveness of sins (1 Peter 3:21).
